🖍️ The Colouring Studio — a friendly guide
Tap a shape, watch it fill with colour, draw your own lines to make brand new shapes, then print it or save it as a picture. Everything happens right here in your browser — no app, no login, no drawing skills needed.
🚀 Five steps and you are colouring
- Pick a picture. Press 🖼️ Pages above the canvas to choose from our collections, or open any colouring page on this site and press its “Colour this online” button — that exact picture loads here, already waiting for you.
- Choose a colour. Tap one of the round swatches on the right. The Rainbow, Crayon, Neon, Soft and Animals tabs give you different moods, and the square picker opens every colour in the world.
- Tap inside a shape. The studio only paints the one area under your finger — the black outlines hold the colour in, so edges stay crisp. Hover (or rest your finger) and the shape that will be filled glows first, so there are no surprises.
- Make it yours. Press ✏️ My line and drag to draw a new line across the page. That line instantly becomes a wall: you now have two areas to fill instead of one.
- Keep it. Use 🖨️ Print for paper, 💾 Save PNG for a picture you can text or print later, or 📌 Keep it to leave and finish the same drawing on the same device.
💡 Working with a photo instead of a colouring page? Turn on Auto borders and raise Border strength in the Brush & fill card — the studio then finds the outlines in the photo for you.
🧰 Every tool, in one line each

Number keys 1–9 jump straight to the first nine colours of the open group, Ctrl+Z undoes (up to 26 steps), Ctrl+Y redoes, Ctrl+S saves the PNG, Ctrl+P prints and Esc closes any panel. A ❓ Shortcuts button lists them all inside the studio.
✨ The part kids love: draw your own shapes
✏️ Split any picture
A line from you is treated exactly like a printed outline. Draw across a big tummy, a wall, a sky — the studio re-reads the page and you now have two areas, three, as many as you like. The little blocks counter under the canvas shows how many separate areas exist.
🪣 Fill both sides differently
Because your line is a real wall, one side can be purple and the other green. This is what turns a plain picture into a design of your own — and it works on blank paper too: press ◻️ Blank paper, sketch outlines, then flood them with colour.
Safe to experiment
Lines and colour live on separate layers. Clear my lines takes your outlines away but keeps every colour; Clear paint does the opposite. Undo fixes anything, on desktop and on the dock at the bottom of a phone screen.

Printing at home
🖨️ Print sends a clean A4 sheet to your printer. Tick Show my lines off before printing an uncoloured page so it comes out with black outlines on white paper — perfect for a rainy afternoon with pencils. Print and PDF apps behave best in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
Saving a picture
💾 Save PNG downloads exactly what you see, at full size. On a phone the image goes to your Photos or Downloads folder, ready to text to grandma or to stick in a class worksheet.
Sharing the same page
🔗 Copy link puts a link on your clipboard that opens this very picture, ready to colour. Send it to a sibling, a friend or a whole class — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on our side.
My work
📌 Keep it stores your unfinished drawing in this browser so you can close the tab and press Resume later (up to four saved works, newest first). It never leaves the device, so clearing your browser data clears it too.
Colouring with grown-ups and teachers
Colouring is quiet, screen-time with a purpose: it builds the small hand muscles children need before handwriting, teaches spatial thinking (“this colour has to stay inside here”), and gives a finished, shareable result in minutes — which matters enormously for a child who finds drawing frustrating. For classrooms, open a link on the smartboard, pick Fill every matching shape at once and let the class vote on the colour before you tap; it turns into a five-minute decision game. Set a phone or tablet face-down on the table and one child can colour a whole page on their own with a single finger — the buttons are big on purpose, and the paint area never needs a keyboard.
Because the studio is just a web page, it works the same on a Chromebook, an iPad, an Android tablet or a ten-year-old laptop, and it keeps working on a weak connection: once the page is open, colouring is entirely offline.
